How to recognize it
Average length: 50 to 75 cm.
Its body is dark (greenish to almost brown or dark grey) with lighter spots. There are little golden spots on the tips of its scales. Fins have black spots on them.
It has a large mouth with big sharp teeth (the pike is a fearsome carnivore).
It has large eyes on top of its long head.
Its lower jaw is slightly longer than its snout.
