How to recognize it
- Average length: 50 to 100 cm.
- Its body is light-colored with dark spots.
- Its back is brown, green or blue and has large dark spots. Its flanks are silvery. The salmon turns darker when it is in a river.
- It has a large mouth with strong teeth.
- Large and highly visible scales.
- Completely black salmons are rare. This happens when the salmons are blind.
